Wireless Backhaul

Do you have a building that needs connected to your network but running fiber is too expensive? Do you have a guard shack that just needs a phone and email access? Do you need to get Wi-Fi coverage to outdoor areas? Wireless backhaul has fiber-like specifications and can meet your connectivity needs. With throughput up to 10 Gbps out of a single radio and sub-millisecond latency, mm wave provides an excellent option for remote connectivity. When longer links are required, high quality 5 GHz radios offer throughput up to 1 Gbps and excellent performance in the crowded frequency bands.

5 GHz

The 5 GHz frequency band works well for connecting many devices over a large area. With reliable links up to 5 miles possible and throughput up to 1 Gbps, the 5 GHz band is a good option even in today's crowded spectrum.

Using quality radios and high gain antennas when necessary is key to providing reliable links using the 5 GHz band. Point to Point and Point to Multi-Point network architectures can provide reliable primary connections or as back up connections for other frequency bands.

60 GHz MM Wave

The 60 GHz millimeter wave band is a relatively new frequency allocation that allows for high throughput and very low latency. This is ideal for shorter distances where a fiber-like connection is needed. J2 has designed and implemented networks for Wi-Fi coverage using 60 GHz radios for backhaul connectivity.

The 60 GHz band works well with PtP, PtMP and Mesh network architectures. The hardware footprint is very small and is easily mounted on pole tops.

70 GHz - 80 GHz

The 70 GHz to 80 GHz frequency band offers very high throughput and very low latency for point to point networks. Throughput up to 10 Gbps are possible out of a single radio. Links up to 2 miles are possible when properly designed and installed. The relatively small form factor makes these radios work well for building mounted, pole mounted or tower mounted installations.

J2 has designed and implemented several 1+ mile links. Proper installation and alignment is key to a solid performing connection.
